A good, clean book that's a great pick for teens and adults alike

Ever the Hunted was an easy read that grabbed and kept my interest from the start. There is hearty dose of teenage angst, but it feels right for the characters' ages and situation. The magic use is woven well into a well-thought-out world and doesn't seem out of place or overbearing. Britta's journey challenges her physically, mentally, and emotionally, allowing her to grow and discover far more than she could have imagined at the beginning. Something truly exceptional that I truly love was how clean this book is. I seldom find a good book lately (or movie for that matter) that I can recommend without having to add a disclaimer about unnecessary language, sexuality, violence, etc. Erin Summerill though has pulled through with a gripping tale, unblemished by these common blights, that I wholeheartedly recommend for teens and adults alike. Thank you, Erin--I'm looking forward to the next book!

Love and adventure with a dash of magic

I could not put this book down. Summerill weaves a balance of fantasy, magic, and romance in this page-turning part one to a duology that you do not want to miss. Not only is the cover gorgeous, the story is beautifully-spun with solid-feeling characters and an enchanting world.
Britta starts off the tale still grieving from the loss of her father and the long absence of her best friend. I was immediately drawn to Britta's quick mind and resourceful spirit. Britta is not someone who gives up easily, and this particular strength sustains her through a myriad of problems when the king sends her to hunt down her father's killer.
The magic unfolds soon enough to ease my curiosity and is never dumped on the reader all at once. The ending feels complete, but also leaves ample room for friction in the next installment, especially pertaining to the romance. Summerill deserves all five of these stars. This is truly an entertaining debut! Book two is expected to release late 2017.

A wonderful adventure with a spark of romance! Loved it!

This story is the perfect blend of adventure, courage, and romance. As an expert hunter, Britta is forced to track down the young man, Cohen, who is accused of killing her father. The problem is, he is also the boy she loves. The story unfolds with great pacing and lots of intrigue as Britta tries to solve the mystery of who is really behind the killing of her father. Could it really have been Cohen or is there something bigger going on? Who is the hunter and who is the hunted? I loved this book, the first in a series, and I can't wait for book two to come out!
